Hit & Run

Last year my youngest son and I were involved in a not-so-fun accident. After the other vehicle smacked upside of mine, the offender took off at a high rate of speed, with a police car in hot pursuit. Meanwhile, all I'm thinking is "Hey, what about us?!" No one was stopping for me, so I took off too, and followed the "parade" into a somewhat unfamiliar neighborhood. Here is where the suspect drove off-road, abandoned his car, and jumped the railroad tracks. My family soon arrived and I snapped this photo of my older son watching as a crowd of onlookers gathered.

All of the papers are from Scraptastic's Drops of Jupiter kit and add-on. I like how the bits of orange coordinate with the end-of-road caution sign and the fluorescent strips on side of the train. To me this color also seems to signal "Emergency!"

I used a Crate Paper fox "bobby pin" to hold together my paper layers:

Kraft cardstock was used to matt the photo and create the cluster of leaves to the right. Bits of ephemera were tucked and layered alongside:

I keep a couple of bowls and baskets near my scrap desk filled with odds and ends, and enjoy sorting through them for fun little details like this. See that little tag? I crossed out "room" and wrote "cell". Yep, the person responsible got to spend a bit of time in jail. I'm still furious that his insurance company didn't take responsibility. Evidently they don't cover someone fleeing from police. Does that make any sense at all??? What good are mandatory insurance rules when loopholes like this exist?

Boys Rule

Yes, I love cut files...and what could be more fun than taking one and making it GIGANTIC?! On the page below, oversized lettering was filled with bright and colorful patterned papers from American Crafts' #Summer collection, with the large "O" reserved for my photo:

The phrase/title is one of the many designs in The Cut Shoppe's Boys Rule cut file set:

The closeup shows how the "0" not only frames the photo, but holds a bit of journaling-in-the-round. Uncle Chris was supposed to be helping to hold up the board, but couldn't resist photo-bombing the two kids. ;)

Most of the supplies (patterned papers, stickers, flair, transparency pieces, and wood veneer) are from the #Summer collection by American Crafts.

Come on summer! I'm ready!

Travel Far, Pay No Fare...

Last week fellow Scraptastic DT member, Alex, and I shared scrapbook pages based on the following Pinterest pin. These beautiful nautical flags are such fabulous party decor! Today I'm sharing the layout they inspired.
Source
These colorful flags inspired me by their variety! So many shapes, designs, and sizes. I reproduced a small assortment for my page, using patterned paper, stamps, and enamel dots from Scraptastic's Drops of Jupiter kit and add-on:

Several of the flag designs were placed at the top of my page:

Lettering from both the kit and add-on were combined for this quote:

The pocket holds my book list for 2016:

I'm on a roll, having read 14 books in the first part of this year! My favorite thus far is In the Shadow of the Banyan by Vaddey Ratner. I'm always looking for a good book and would love to hear your recommendations. :)

Dive In & Swim

Today I'm sharing a page created with the Scraptastic Club's Just A Girl kit and add-on, featuring digital cut files from The Cut Shoppe Etsy store.

To contrast with the vivid papers and embellishments of my page, I cut a title and star flourish from black cardstock, using the Make A Splash and Let's Make Music cut files from The Cut Shoppe:

To tone down the stark black of the cardstock cuts, I spritzed them both with white mist:

I love the contrast of black and white with the saturated teal, yellow and red of the patterned paper, enamel dots, tags, and acrylics. It's a wonderfully bold look that works well for my colorful photo!

Love Is All You Need

Here's a layout I put together with a less-than-perfect picture, a selfie that was supposed to also capture the Restaurant sign behind us. Instead I gave our hair a nice green neon glow!

I used American Crafts/Amy Tangerine papers, Maggie Holmes ephemera, and a wonderful title from The Cut Shoppe's Love Struck collection:

Here's are a couple of closeups:

Pen-stitching reinforces the hand-drawn look of the flowers and frames.

By the way, I LOVE the fussy-cut flowers. I had them sprout from the title and reach up to fill that otherwise empty frame:

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

Meet Me In The Sunshine

The grey check patterned paper on the page below is meant to mimic the checkerboard in the photo. Like the last three pages shared on this blog, everything (except the gold script lettering) is from Scraptastic Club's Gale Song kit and add-on.

Closeups:

There was so much to love about this kit. I sure got a lot of use from the floral die-cuts and pretty fringe hearts. What are your favorite elements?!

Hello Valentine

Yes, I know Valentine's Day was last month. And this photo was taken on Christmas Day. And yet I wanted to use this title and all that pink! This background paper is a favorite:

Closeups:

Banners are one of my go-to embellishments, quite handy and easy to make when I need a little something extra.

There's another one of those fringe hearts! Check back tomorrow for another layout with the Gale Song kit from Scraptastic.
