It Happened When...

Chris took a small point and shoot camera with him on his mission trip to Mexico, but he didn't manage to get in front of the camera very often. I do however have tons of pictures, videos even, of the poor pig that became dinner one evening. I am not kidding. There were probably 50-60+ pictures AND video clips of that disturbing episode. It must have been the highlight of his trip. The guys drew straws for the honor of wielding the knife. Then they proceeded to take photos of the entire process, from gutting to roasting on the spit. Boys!

I was particularly happy to find these great photos of my son on the same memory card. Thankfully he had one of his friends snap pics of him leaning against one of the Aztec pyramids on the day their toured the area. Finally, a pleasant subject for me to scrap. In spite of his slightly apathetic attitude towards picture-taking and scrapbooking, I believe that there will come a time when Chris will be glad that I've preserved these memories for him. If not, well I at least had fun creating this page. ;)

Papers and stickers are a mix of Crate Paper, Studio Calico, Echo Park, and October Afternoon. Large letter stickers are October Afternoon (blue) and BasicGrey (red). Small letter stickers are Making Memories.

GREAT page!!! Love how well it all works together! :)

My husband drags his feet and gives me the "do I have to?" look when I want to take pics, and even while I'm doing scrapbooks. If I show him a completed layout, he will give it a bored/slightly judgemental glance and says I've done a good job. BUT, he will be the first one pulling them out to show our friends and family when they come over!!! It's hilarious! I've asked him why he does it, and he says that he really doesn't care for the 'process' or who made the buttons or how I stamped something, but enjoys the final product, and how many memories looking back through the albums bring. :) I'm betting your son will come around!! :)

I wonder if my kids even care, and they do now - but when they are teenagers? Well, you said it perfectly. At least you/we have fun in the process!

I am totally laughing at the idea of you opening up that folder of photos expecting to see your son and some beautiful scenery only to witness a pig murder instead! You wound up with a beautiful layout anyway - I love the color scheme and the postal accents.

My 5 year old loves looking at himself now. I hope he still loves it in 20 years! And you're right, at least we had fun making all these layouts!

I love the layering on this one. The different papers really make the photos pop.
