Sunkist

It was a tough choice. Both of the Scraptastic kits this month were awesome, but I ultimately chose Oh Snap! because of the super bright and colorful Amy Tangerine patterned papers. I had colorful photos from past beach vacations waiting to be scrapped...and we'll be going back this summer!

For my first page, I used one 5x7 photo and two patterned papers (strategically cut so that I could use the remaining portions on additional pages), then filled much of the remaining space with embellishments.

Stickers from the American Crafts Remarks sticker sheets were backed with chipboard and popped up for a little added dimension. I added the bitty bags and flowers from my stash and cut out a coordinating camera from another of the patterned papers. (I can see those little cameras will be showing up on a lot of my future layouts.) In this case, it was the perfect backing to highlight the little yellow letter stickers in my title.

One of my favorite embellishments from the kit has to be the Do-It-Yourself banners. They come all white with an embossed portion that resists coloration. I used a Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress Ink and rubbed it on with my fingers. It couldn't be easier and the results were fabulous. I can't wait to play with these some more. Watercolors, spray ink...I have some experimenting to do!

Great layout! I love how bright and fun this is! The bitty bags are super cute - (I am pretty sure I need to get some of those) and the hand-colored banner looks so nice!

This is gorgeous! How do you get such great pictures of your layouts? any tips?

Thanks Kat! Unlike many people, I actually prefer to photograph my layouts in the sun. I have a little easel that I set up preferably in the late afternoon (though early morning works as well). I adjust it so that the photos don't have glare but the layout is brightly lit and snap that pic. THEN, I usually do a bit of brightening, contrast, sharpening (if it needs it) in Photoshop Elements. I also use Elements to square my layout because I'm terrible at taking a dead-on shot! Then I give it a 3 pixel black outline and save for web. It really isn't as time consuming as it sounds. I do it the same way every time so it goes really fast.
